How to choose the FPC material ?

Flexible Printed Circuit board (Flexible Printed Circuit circuit referred to as FPC), also known as flexible circuit board, flexible circuit board, is a highly reliable, excellent flexible printed circuit board made of polyimide or polyester film as the substrate. It has the characteristics of high wiring density, light weight, thin thickness and good bending.

FPC material selection points:
1.Material selection of side keys/keys

Side key select 18/12.5 double sided electrolytic copper (except special), main key select 18/12.5 double sided electrolytic copper (except special). The side key and the main key have no special requirements in bending, and are soldered and fixed on the main board, but be sure to ensure that there is no anomaly in bending back and forth more than 8 times. The thickness of the key has more strict requirements, otherwise it will affect the feel of the key, so it must meet the total thickness requirements of the customer.

2.Material selection of connecting wire

The connection wire is 18/12.5 double-sided electrolytic copper (except special ones). The main function is to play a connection role, and there are no special requirements for bending requirements. Both ends can be welded and fixed, but it must be guaranteed that there is no anomaly before bending back and forth for more than 8 times.

3.Selection of auxiliary materials

When selecting adhesive paper, the ordinary board does not need SMT can use high temperature resistant adhesive paper (such as side key board), and the need for SMT must use high temperature resistant adhesive paper (such as SMT by key board).

4.Selection of conductive materials

When selecting conductive paper, ordinary conductive adhesive is suitable for those with low electrical conductivity requirements (such as ordinary keyplate), and good conductive property is suitable for those with high electrical conductivity requirements and must use adhesive paper (such as special keyplate, etc.), but this adhesive paper is generally not recommended because the price is too high.

The conductive property of the conductive cloth can be, but the viscosity is not ideal, and it is generally suitable for the keyplate class.

Conductive pure adhesive is a high-strength conductive material, generally used for attaching steel sheets, but it is not recommended to use this conductive pure adhesive, because the price is too high.

5.Material selection of sliding cover plate

The double-layer sliding cover plate is 1/30Z single-sided non-gel electrolytic copper, which is soft and ductile. The double-sided sliding cover plate is 1/30Z double-sided non-adhesive electrolytic copper, which is soft and ductile. The life of the sliding cover plate made of 1/30Z double-sided copper-free electrolytic copper is better than that of 1/30Z single-sided copper-free electrolytic copper. In the case of no problems with the structure, it is recommended to design the FPC as double-sided sliding cover plate as far as possible. In terms of cost, the use of 1/30Z double-sided copper-free electrolytic copper increases the cost by about 30% compared with the use of 1/30Z single-sided copper-free electrolytic copper main material, but the use of this material will improve the production yield, and the test life can also be improved, which can ensure the stability of this type of plate.

6.Material selection of multi-layer board

The multilayer plate is 1/30Z non-colloidal electrolytic copper, which is soft and ductile. In the case of no structural problems, the production of the flap can be tested.
